Sweet Words For Our Soul – Weekly Words Of Encouragement

103 How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

111 Your statutes are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart.

Psalms 119:103, 111 (NIV)

The Psalmist did not have the words of Jesus, yet the Old Testament law was a sweet joy to him. How much sweeter are the words of Jesus and his Apostles? How much more joy do we have in the words of mercy and love that fulfilled and perfected the Old Testament law?

Jesus said, “blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Mt. 5:3, NIV). And “you are the light of the world” (Mt. 5:14, NIV). And “store up for yourselves treasures in heaven” (Mt. 6:20). How more blessed can we be? We are the poor but we are the light of the world and we have an eternal treasure in heaven!

So, let us “eat” the words of Jesus. Let us savor them and absorb them into our hearts. They are sweeter than honey, our heritage, our joy forever! Today, choose a phrase from Scripture that tastes good and chew on it throughout the day and you will be tasting the food of heaven.
